Shoe Shine ScamBy: NetGuard, September 15, 2002This is especially about the shoe shiners outside Byrd Cage/Mr T's Patio bar, they will shine your shoes for a minimal fee, and in the process use a razor blade to cut the between the leather and the sole, so they will need to fix the shoes. This however is a more costly affair, the most expensive I heard so far, was a guy that ended up paying around 700 pesos for his shoe repair. Usually the shoe repair will set you back around 200-300 pesos, and you end up with damaged shoes. Not the worst scam in AC, but certainly worth warning about here. |
