R Rhapsody: Open 1/00. Formerly Panama Jack's, it's been enlarged and renovated. "Not my favourite style. It reminds me of the Makati bars. There is no atmosphere and the dancers look a lot older than the other bar. Maybe he needs to take a few of the stunners out of La Bamba." BH. "Rhapsody was definitely different than I had expected. I will say that I like it definitely over the old Panama Jack outlay. It reminded me of a roaring twenties bar, with the dance floor expanded for all the girls to dance centrally. One drawback of the bar is I found only one area in the bar I considered a good place to sit, right next to the bar. All the other areas would be considered substandard although the place totally has been redone and looks nice. Their prices were expensive, asking top dollar for a beer. P55 seems to be the new trend with the bars in AC." Cheap Charlie. "For officers and gentlemen it is Rhapsody Cocktail Lounge of course, a little expensive, however it is one of my favourites. I met the Duke there. Saw a character who looked like Castro at age 25 dancing with a beautiful woman who could twist like a snake- they both were exceptional dancers. Also a very good looking Lady (2nd I.C), and really could dance (Spanish/ Filipino), would often do a dance in front of us. Its definitely worth a look-especially the Show on Wednesday night 9-30pm." Quoit-Boy. "I went there with the intention of not staying too long. This bar is pretty neat. With a slightly raised dance floor for customers. I also like the music selections of the night. Tonight the selections played contemporary Tagalog rock, which I heard for the first time. I like it, so I stayed. The mamasan is a young fox, really cute. This bar has tons of GRO who will dance with the customers. I see a lot of customers (3 couples) dancing with the Tagalog music. Some customers came with their barfines. Overall, you can shake your butts in any which way you want here and still have fun. Occasionally, one or two of the dancers will come down from their dance floor and joined the customers. So, you may have to entertain two girls at once. I stayed for almost 45 minutes." Southern Boy."Not a bad little bar anymore if you don't mind the seating and the distance to the stage. Two of the ladies from the Owl's Nest have came over. J is a real looker and the other lady has one of the nicest racks in town. Some of the other dancers are very attractive too." Tomkat2000 (10/2003) Rick's Cafe: Open February 23, 1993. Videos throughout the day. It has a nice internet center. I used it once when Kokomo's was off-line. My page came right up and I made a print using their color printer. "The steak and egg breakfast is top notch, and its a great place to kill a few hours and watch a movie. I've only had breakfast there because lunch and dinner are Thai food at Margarita Station or a steak at Mo's Steakhouse as far as I'm concerned." Mawi Mike. "I would recommend Rick's Café for movies but I always get mosquito bites when I go in that place. Take your insect repellant. In addition, you can't get fresh brewed coffee there and they expect you to use powdered shit instead of cream. Other than that, the place is ok." MineShaft (10/2002) Rio: GRO, Perimeter Road bar. Jolly Frog has been renamed Club Rio. Nothing fancy. The dance stage is large enough to hold 6 dancers. There is a lot of seating from front to back. Some is private. The uniforms are school girl skirts with very see through tops. The quality of the girls varies from day-to-day but there are some real stunners. This is a FUN bar. (01/2002) Roadhouse: 298 Field Avenue. One of the most unique bars in Angeles City. Literally transported piece by piece from Ermita, Roadhouse was one of the first bars to open after Pinatubo. The staff are efficient and friendly and they have the best rock and roll video collection and sound system in town. "I've been in the place at least a dozen times. It's a miserable bar with old music played too loud. The lineup is small, 7 dancers on stage and 7 off. Most of the girls are homely and on the heavy side. Some have stretch marks. People say what a great CR the place has. I don't care about the damn shitter in any bar. This one is not so great. They got a male attendant in there. I don't need any help holding my dick when I'm peeing, thank you." Nick "Biggest disappointment was The Roadhouse. This used to be my favorite in all of AC but they didn't have too many girls the night I went and the 'robot' dancing they do has gotten old over time. The bar being between the customer and the stage also kills any verbal interaction with the dancers. I'd still say check it out for the 'Thunerstruck' dance towards the end of the night but do your 'shopping' elsewhere first." Wanderer. "Has gone down hill fast. The girls seem to think that they are doing you a favor by sitting down and talking to you." Bubba "I really don't think you go to the Roadhouse for the girls. Most people go there to drink with Mark and also to drink and not get hassled for lady's drinks." Bill. "The dancers are more than stand-offish. They're downright stuck-up lately. They think it's a privilege for you to have their company or barfine them. IMHO I'll spend my money elsewhere. Not a bad place for a hang-out and a beer, but if I want to play games I can do it back home for free! Those girls have to get to get their act straightened out and remember what their job is - to fuck their barfines!" Stiff Richard. "Roadhouse has several advantages. Firstly it is unique in AC, there is no other place like it in AC or in the Philippines. Love it or hate it, that is a fact. Secondly, because it is run according to certain standards and because certain rules are enforced this means that you are less likely to get any hassles or game playing from the girls, staff, etc. Thirdly, the customer always knows what to expect from a visit to Roadhouse. Many customers appreciate this bars consistency. Fourthly, Roadhouse plays music for the customers not for the girls. Of course being from a younger generation the girls cannot really relate to the music so they have developed the line dancing or synchronized dancing (as it is sometimes called) routines. Whether you like this dancing style or not is merely a matter of personal taste. Fifthly, when the girls are bought a drink they will often stay dancing then come down and thank you later. There are a number of reasons for this not the least of which is that they do not have an abundance of dancers as in some other bars so the girls will often choose to finish their 'set' or 'group' before coming down to talk to you. This way the stage stays active. Often they will wait for you to physically call them down. Doing it this way ensures that there is never any unwarranted pressure to buy ladies drinks. The down side of this is that the girls can sometimes seem aloof but in my experience 'seem' is the operative word here. When you get to know them a little bit, Roadhouse girls are anything but aloof. Sixthly, the emphasis in Roadhouse is on drinking and partying on with the boys, whereas in other bars it is on the attainment of female companionship. Of course Roadhouse offers female companionship but the emphasis is not placed here. As Mark said some time back, Roadhouse is a drinking bar. In short Roadhouse is unique and it has carved out a definite market segment. Not everybody likes it but as the old saying goes 'you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.' For every 1 person who doesn't like it there seems to be 2 who do, that is why it is one of the most visited bars in AC. Also a lot of the guys with money to spend tend to gravitate to Roadhouse. The so called 'big spenders' like the atmosphere. I have had numerous discussions with Mark regarding Roadhouse and the bar business in general, suffice to say we do not always agree. I however, have to give credit where credit is due. Roadhouse has been there for quite some time, it has developed a loyal following of guys who love the bar and spend good money there. Lastly, there is also a high level of loyalty amongst the girls. Roadhouse 'is what it is' and always will be. The rest is up to the customer." mjibbo Roy's: British-style pub that serves food. No dancers and the
waitresses aren't available for take out. Roy's moved to Angeles after
the demise of Ermita nightlife under Mayor Lim. Roy himself is gone (deceased)
but the bar lives on and is highly recommended for its food.
