O Owl's Nest (formerly Club Fantastic): Another bar left
over from
the base days. It's a large place with between 8 and 10 dancers, but
the
quality varies. Owner is an Aussie by the name of Terrence G. Matthews.
It was renamed Owl's Nest 03/2003 following an NBI raid. "I'm going to
have to give a big two thumbs down to the Owl's Nest in it's new
incarnation.
I was charged 60 pesos for a soda water during happy hour on the basis
that happy hour did not apply to soda water. How lame can you get? Then
the music stopped and for the next 15 minutes or so the girls just
stood
around. I left before the music restarted, if it ever did. My enquiries
about why the music was off and when I could expect it to start only
elicited
a glazed eye look from the bartender and mamasan." Patrick
(04/2003).
"When I went in there were 4 dancers on stage and I was the center of
attention.
A few brave folks poked their heads in while I was there but beat a
hasty
retreat. I don't know if it was me or the girls. Probably me. Not much
to recommend this bar at the moment." Propane Pete (05/2003)
The Other Bar: Closed. It was a GRO, Perimeter Road bar next to Zapata's Mexican Restaurant owned by Sgt Major John Hollis until his death on March 8, 2005. Copyright
