Clark main gate to be moved further up Roxas highway

Tuesday, June 14

A new main gate for Clark Freeport is being erected just before the SCTEX crossing on Roxas highway.

Clark Development Corp (CDC) has always been hesitant of such a move due to the fact that the Angeles local government tends to claim CDC-owned land that is not inside the Freeport's fenced boundaries.

Businesses and residents on and near the entertainment strip have long urged for an access route through the fencing into Roxas from Don Juico Ave in order to relieve Don Juico of traffic and to create a quicker and more convenient access into Clark Freeport and SM mall.
Whether this shall be done afterwards is still unclear.

Why even bother having a main gate? Everyone already just goes right by the existing main gate without stopping or showing any ID. It's just for show right now. The bigger problem will happen when they put in the rail line right through the middle of check point. What a mess that's going to be.

@David Mason: The gates are for smuggling of goods (particularly large goods) due to the fact that its tax free. The rail line will go over the road in a skyrail rather than cross the road on the ground. Though, you don't need to worry about this anytime soon.
