Free concert at the park on June 12

Friday, June 03

The centerpiece of the celebration of the 113th Anniversary of Philippine Independence on June 12, 2011 will be at the Bayanihan Park, Clark, Pampanga when a 2-hour musicale of all Pilipino music and cultural dances courtesy of famous artists will be staged – free to the public – and will culminate in a grand computerized FIREWORKS display.

This was the announcement made by Regional Director Ronaldo Tiotuico of the Department of Tourism in a press statement issued recently.

Tiotuico said that the concert dubbed as KALAYAAN 2011: ISANG LAHI, ISANG MUSIKA, will feature the internationally – acclaimed Koro Bulakeño, San Pedro High School Dance Troupe and Sinukwan Performing Arts. The repertoire will highlight our hard-earned struggle for freedom and democracy against Spanish rule which ended in a proclamation of independence. This chapter in our history will be relived thru cultural songs and dances capped by a climactic rendition of Ryan Cayabyab’s Sabihin mung Tagumpay nang Iisang Lahi.

Tiotuico further said that the occasion serves as a tribute to the Capampangan tradition of rising from the ashes like the legendary phoenix - only a few years after the infamous eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. Years after the volcanic eruption saw the rebirth of a new era when Pampanga and its environs metamorphosed from a crest-fallen community to a triumphant one. The entire province of Pampanga is set to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1991 eruption thru a series of festive activities and salient projects such as the flag-raising ceremony and wreath-laying at the Pamintuan Mansion on June 12, launching of Mt. Pinatubo book and photo exhibits.

The concert at the park is open to the public.

The concert is sponsored by the following agencies: Department of Tourism – RIII, Clark Development Corporation (Tourism Promotions Office), Central Luzon Tourism Council (CELTOUR), Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO), Hotels & Restaurants of Pampanga (HARP), Subic Clark Alliance for Development (SCAD), Greater Clark Visitors Bureau (GCVB), Global Gateway Logistics City (GGLC), Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce (MACCII), Pampanga Agents Travel Society (PATS), Alliance of Travel and Tour Agencies of Pampanga (ATTAP) and SM City Clark
